The philosophy behind Femology lies in its ability to create an ecosystem of like-minded women to alleviate the hurdles female start-up companies often encounter, and embolden them to find strength in the traits that set them apart.

With a focus on communal building, women are able to connect, lend access, and share knowledge knowing that the answers they seek are often on the other side of doors they’re most afraid to knock on. As Femology continues to blaze new trails for women founders, they are equipping them with the confidence and awareness to fearlessly go after their dreams, without sacrifice or compromise of self.

  • 2017

    The doors of Femology opened as a fully self-funded organization by Meagan Ward. With a goal to create co-working spaces in incubators to allow women to explore and experience their own economic success, she created what resulted in the biggest and only entrepreneurial development space for women in Detroit.

  • 2020

    Despite the lack of venture capital funding, Femology was created as a self-sustaining ecosystem of like-minded women founders that offered the support, education and resource access that many of them needed to reach new heights of success. At the onset of the pandemic, however, the Femology team was forced to make the difficult decision to close their doors, but what it provided, in turn, was a brand new world of possibilities.

  • 2021

    This shift was no easy feat, and within it came immense growth in Femology’s founder, Meagan Ward, and who she sought to be as an industry leader. Through strategic partnerships within the United States embassy, Ward was able to make her way to Nagoya, Japan to leave her mark on the growing landscape of female economic development.

  • 2022

    The success of her initiative in Japan allowed Meagan to return to the US with a renewed vision for Femology. She understood the innate needs of women founders, and set out to create a new blueprint for them to use to accomplish the impossible. This led to significant global brand partnerships with companies such as Ford, Hilton, and Delta, and now, the State of Michigan and Michigan Central.

  • 2023

    With a determination to do business “our way,” Ward saw the need to resharp her initial dream, and it is there where Femology sits where entrepreneurial development, strategic partnership, and women’s wellness intersect. Her keen understanding of the needs of women founders allows her to deconstruct dated processes, and rebuild new systems for success where it once stood.

  • 2024

    This can be seen through the creation of initiatives that include the Founder Fellowship program that supports a cohort of five women founded and led businesses in Detroit, along with specialized programs like the Global Entrepreneurial Exchange Program, which is possible, in part due to our global partners at Hilton Hotel and Delta.

Meagan Ward understands the science of business. With years of expertise as a sought-after business and brand consultant for industry and global leaders within the public and private sectors, Ward has been able to leverage these connections to remain a fixture at the table, enacting policies that can change the landscape of women and women entrepreneurs.

It is within this role, that she is able to collaborate with corporations who seek to align themselves with a brand that offers the most diverse ecosystem of women, seeking to break barriers across all industries, to position themselves at the forefront of business and global innovation – Femology.

Bridging the gap between female empowerment and entrepreneurial success, Meagan founded Femology in 2017; Detroit’s first and pioneering co-working space providing robust programs and accelerator spaces for women entrepreneurs. As the first of its kind, it aimed to dismantle barriers to funding, resources and industry access to help women founders achieve greater success at all levels of their entrepreneurship journey.

Meagan believes, for women to gain an equal footing, no matter the room, it must first be reflective of their differing needs, approaches, and end goals.
